Mr. Lee practices primarily in the area of business reorganizations and transactions.  He has experience in Chapter 11 bankruptcy reorganizations, as well as transactional and litigation matters involving real estate, commercial transactions and other business related matters. He received his Juris Doctor from Cumberland School of Law in 2002, where he was a member and associate editor of the Cumberland Law Review. In addition to his law degree, he received a Master of Business Administration degree from Samford University in 2002.  Mr. Lee completed his undergraduate studies at the University of Florida in 1995, where he received a Bachelor of Science in Microbiology.  

After being admitted to the Alabama Bar in September of 2002, Mr. Lee practiced in the area of Business Restructuring and Reorganization, and came to Spain & Gillon after serving as judicial law clerk to the Honorable James S. Sledge, United States Bankruptcy Court for the Northern District of Alabama from 2004 to 2005.

Mr.  Lee is a member of the Alabama State Bar, Bankruptcy and Commercial Law Section;  the American Bar Association, Section of Business Law, Committee on Business Bankruptcy;  the American Bankruptcy Institute, Business Reorganization Committee; and the Birmingham Bar Association, Bankruptcy and Commercial Law Section.  He is admitted to practice in all state courts in Alabama and the United States District Courts for the Northern and Middle Districts of Alabama.

Mr.  Lee is the author of “Undersecured Creditors Should Retain Liens on Personal Property Until Completion of Chapter 13 Plan,”  National Association of Chapter Thirteen Trustees Quarterly, Vol. 17, No. 2, January / February / March (2005), and “Eleventh Circuit Survey of Recent Opinions - Arbitration,” Cumberland Law Review, 32 Cumb. L. Rev. 687 (2001). 

Mr. Lee’s community involvement includes serving on the Leadership Council of Junior Achievement of Greater Birmingham and as a J.A. classroom volunteer in the Birmingham City School system.  He works with Hands On Birmingham as a Project Coordinator, and is an active member of the Birmingham Bar Association’s Public Service Committee.
